Officer of the Month
The officer of the month is a new feature on dedhampolice.org. It will spotlight one officer each month and give a background on his/her career.
The Officer of the Month:
School and Community Resource Officer Richard Huyler 
Officer Huyler has been with the Dedham Police Department for 31 years. In 2002, Officer Huyler took over the position of School and Community Resource Officer. Officer Huyler has an office inside of the Dedham Middle School and is the liason between the schools and the police department. He is incharge of coordinating programs of special interest such as the MY CHIPS Program, which a child identification program sponsered by the Masons. The most recent program set to beginning in January, is a Bullying Program administered by the Norfolk County District Attorney's Office.
Officer Huyler is a past president of the Dedham Police Patrolman's Association and currently the secretary for the Dedham Police to the Massachusetts Police Association. He is also an orignal member of the Dedham Police Mountain Bike Patrol Unit.
Officer Huyler is married to his wife, Marie, and has three grown children, Erin, Christopher, and Suzanne. Officer Huyler is happy to report that Erin is a college administrator, Christopher is a senior software engineer, and Suzanne is currently a first year law student. Officer Huyler enjoys skiing and attempting to play golf.
